Peace Rug
Peace Rug
The Junior Women's Club of Barnesville, October 2004, presented Ms. Angie Pack's first-grade class at Barnesville Elementary School with the "Peace Rug."  Featuring a serene cloud design, the Peace Rug is a beautiful 3' x 5' rug that comes with a set of special instructions for the children to use while sitting on the rug and talking to create better relationships.

Peace and safety are greatly needed in ou rworld today; the Peace Rug instructions can help provide a safe place and powerful words for conflicts to be resolved.  When a child is enabled to "find his or her own voice" and respectfully talk to those with whom they are in conflict, they can learn responsible steps toward greater communication, identify a problem and a way to create better relations.

Peggy Meola, Public Affairs Chairman, stated that it's not a substitute for counseling, but has been found to be very effective in helping children to have better relationships.  The only "down side" to the project is that the children may be over-eager to spend time on the rug.
