Story Book Tins
The JWCB created ten story book tins, which were given to a women's shelter, the Barnesville Learning Center and a local day care facility.  Story Book Tins are designed to promote reading and reading comprehension. The committee earnestly endeavored to make each tin interesting and fun, and each includes a set of age-appropriate questions addressing number, sequence, cause/effect, etc. (consistent with OFWC suggested guidelines), to encourage discussion with a story teller.

Each story book tin contained a book (shown here), along with replicas of the characters, animals, buildings, and other items mentioned in the book
In addition each “Tin” has activity sheets and coloring pages that correspond with the story.

Story book tins are a wonderful way to encourage reading and to introduce literacy / reading comprehension skills to children.  A story teller may use the items associated with each book as visual aids to engage the audience in the story being told, and to reinforce literacy and comprehension aspects of the story. Story Book Bins may also be used independently by children of appropriate age.
